About Maryann Simmons
Maryann Simmons is a Physical Therapist Assistant who is passionate about helping patients regain confidence and independence through personalized, evidence-based care. Her own rehabilitation journey inspired her career in physical therapy, giving her a unique perspective and deep appreciation for the healing process.
Originally from western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, Maryann began her professional career in accounting after earning both a bachelor's degree in Accounting and an MBA. After several years working as a tax accountant in Northern Virginia, she discovered her passion for physical therapy while recovering from injuries related to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). She returned to school to earn her Physical Therapist Assistant degree through Northern Virginia Community College and has been practicing since 2022.
Maryann has pursued additional education in Manual Trigger Point Release, Maitland Joint Mobilization, and rehabilitation for EDS and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders. She enjoys working alongside the Reston Fusion team, appreciating the supportive, optimistic culture that makes every day rewarding. Her goal is for every patient to leave therapy feeling confident, empowered, and maybe even sharing a few laughs along the way.
Outside of work, Maryann enjoys traveling with her husband and counts Easter Island as her favorite destination. She also loves reading fantasy novels, playing video games, and spending time with their three cats.
