Dr. Kristen VanderWijst specializes in outpatient orthopedics and has worked in this environment since 2011. She has taken continuing education courses on manual therapy such as joint mobilization and muscle energy techniques through Maitland, Mulligan, and Great Lakes. She also incorporates gua sha tool massage and functional dry needling to address myofascial pain. She uses a combination of manual therapy techniques as well as an individualized exercise program to help patients become pain-free and achieve their goals.

Fun facts about Kristen: She lives with her husband and three children in Fredericksburg, VA. She enjoys spending time with her family, including going on family walks, bike rides, and baking together. Due to her children’s ages, she is subjected to listening to Disney movies quite often, and she enjoys singing along (badly) with her kids and having dance parties.

“I started working for Fusion in 2018 when I was seeking an environment where I could have flexibility as a working mom with a family and have more autonomy as a therapist. I love how everyone at Fusion works as a team, and we are always learning from and encouraging each other. We try to provide a fun but also professional environment so that patients feel welcome and can achieve their goals.”
